Discosapien is Colorado’s original DJ and music production tutoring program. We offer private lessons and full courses for Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Traktor Pro, Serato Scratch Live, Native Instruments Maschine, DJing, music production, remixing and mixing & mastering. If you want to learn to DJ, learn to produce electronic music, or both, training with our experienced instructors will take your passion to the next level. Our program focuses on personalized courses in the appropriate curriculum depending on your experience level and learning goals. Courses are taught in our fully loaded recording and music production studio in Westminster, Colorado. Meet The Instructor: Rex Buchanan

Rex Buchanan aka DJ Rex is the founder and owner of Discosapien. He has over 10 years experience as a nightclub DJ and more than 5 years experience putting on amazing private events through Discosapien. During his time on the decks Rex has held residencies at Colorado’s top venues including Beta Nightclub and Club Vinyl, he has performed on the main stage of Red Rocks Amphitheater for Global Dance Festival 2011 and he has opened for world renowned acts such as Pretty Lights, The Black Eyed Peas, Ludacris, LMFAO, Empire of the Sun, Kid Cudi, Benny Benassi, Big Gigantic, Innerpartysystem, Manufactured Superstars, The Faint, Air Dubai and Ben Samples. As one of the top mobile DJs in Colorado, Rex keeps the dance floor moving. He also enjoys teaching DJ and music production lessons to those who want to improve their skills.

Meet The Instructor: Steven Cleveland

Steven Cleveland is a the lead Ableton instructor for the music production program at Discosapien. As a founding member of Ping Trace, an electronic music project based in Denver, Steve has extensive musical knowledge to share with his students. As a musician and producer, Steven is focused on high-quality electronic soundscapes. He is the primary sound designer in his band, lending his expertise and experience with electronic music production, synthesizers and soft synths to the group. His work with Ping Trace has captivated international record labels, with two releases on Black Hole Recording/Magik Muzik in 2011, and their most recent release “Resolution” in July 2012 on Spanish deep house label, Flame Records. Steven has been working with electronic music production since 1995 with Cakewalk Pro 5. He soon added Cubase to his arsenal, along with Sonic Foundry’s Acid. In 2007, he began working extensively with Logic. Currently, his primary production DAW is Ableton Live, although he continues to use Logic Pro for some production and instrumentation. His proficiency in Ableton Live is considerable and his instruction technique is well developed over many years of working with other artists. He is practiced at composing, remixing, creating mash-ups, mixing, and performing live within Ableton and Logic. Steven has been interviewed in Gearwire Magazine among others. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of the software and music production, and is sure to illuminate many of the techniques he has learned along his journey into sound.

Meet The Instructor: DJ Soup

Matt Campbell aka DJ Soup is a music producer, remixer and DJ from Denver, Colorado. As a party rockin’ DJ, he plays just about any musical genre to keep the floor moving including Bmore, Baile Funk, Moombahton, Juke, Bass Heavy Hip-Hop and Dirty Electro. As a working DJ, he currently holds residencies at Club Vinyl, The Shag Lounge, Funky Buddha Lounge and Hai Bar. He continues to perform opening spots for national and international acts at Denver’s top venues including Beta Nightclub, The Bluebird Theater and The Ogden Theater, and in the past he has opened up for amazing acts such as DJ Vajra, Innerpartysystem, NASA, Flosstradamus, Million $ Mano, Calvertron, Redman, Hollywood Holt, Lady Sov and DJ Z-Trip.
